Rights & Clearances

Big Film Shorts welcomes submissions of short films of all types, lengths and formats. Films can be fiction or documentaries, live action or animation. Student films are welcome. Runtime can be of any duration (yes, we distribute feature length films), however shorts of about five minutes and under are the most in demand.

We accept films of all genres, moods and styles, but, in particular, good, short comedies are always marketable. Films that have shown widely at festivals are always welcome, but festival screenings are not a requirement -- and popularity in the festival circuit does not guarantee commercial appeal.

We welcome submissions of films in all languages, however we would prefer non-English films to be subtitled in English.

You Must Own All Rights

In order to license your film you must provide releases, contracts and agreements for all elements, including:
Actors
All music
Logos
Trademarks

Festival Rights Do Not Apply

Festival rights apply only to exhibition in festival venues. Waivers on contract items such as music rights or Screen Actors Guild payments, are not be applicable in commercial exhibition.
